Description: Tall knob-like coronet. Snout generally short. Some irregularly developed spines; others rounded. May have cirri on head and neck. Mature males have a prominent brood pouch similar to H. abdominalis. Colour brown, yellow or red. Often with brown/black patches or white spots1. Males may have a thick keel. Male specimens have a longer tail than female counterparts. Tubercules sometimes present on the tail.
