Someone told me that a saltwater tank costs at least $1000 to set up no matter what the size. But I only want a small tank, how could it cost that much?
There is a lot of supplies and equipment that goes into setting up a marine tank. Most people think of just the aquarium and the fish when thinking of setting up a tank. However, there are test kits, filters, lights, more filters, salt, live rock, a skimmer, pumps, suppliments, food, etc . . . And that is before you get to even putting any fish into your tank. You can save money by buying used and building some of your own equipment, but only so much.
