How do you tell the boys from the girls? | |||||
Most seahorses are sexually dimorphic. That's a fancy way of saying the males look different from the females. One of the more obvious ways to tell them apart is to look for the brooding pouch (all males have a pouch for brooding the young on their bellies). Sometimes males have tails that are longer than their trunks, whereas females have shorter tails compared to their trunks.
